Not Mundane (11.11.17)
when my father was younger, he would write the words "not mundane" on blank stickers and place them in crevices and places people would not otherwise think to look.
Eyelashes are damp
Eyes have to keep
Blinking Blinking Blinking
Just to try and see
Your hand in front
Of your own
Damn face.
Chest is moving
Violently
Up and right back down
Take a deep breath, they say
Take a deep breath
And hold it in
Nose is pink
is stuffed with
Other people’s words
Is stuffed
Completely
Glasses are fogged
The moisture collects
Glasses are fogged
Can’t freakin’ see
Glasses are fog-
A glance
to the mirror
For a bit of self pity
A glance
To the mirror
To laugh at the gore.
You
You are
You are not
You are not
Mundane.
Tears absorbed into
Bright yellow sweatshirt
Tears absorbed
Back into your skin
Tears absorbed into
The palm of hand.
You
You are
You are not
You are not
Mundane.
The
The voices
The voices comfort you.
